Card Condition Guide

Condition language helps buyers understand what they are purchasing and helps sellers build trust. Use clear photos, direct notes, and conservative descriptions when listing cards.

NM

Near Mint

A card with minimal visible wear. Small imperfections may exist, but the card should look clean, collectible, and well cared for.

  • Clean front and back
  • Minimal edge wear
  • No creases, bends, or major surface damage
LP

Lightly Played

A card with minor wear from handling or play. It should still present well, with flaws that are noticeable but not severe.

  • Light edge or corner wear
  • Minor surface marks
  • No major structural damage
MP

Moderately Played

A card with clear wear that buyers should expect to see in photos and notes. The card remains usable but is visibly played.

  • Noticeable whitening
  • Surface wear or scratches
  • Possible small dents or handling marks
HP

Heavily Played

A card with significant wear. Sellers should describe and photograph the flaws clearly so buyers understand the condition.

  • Heavy edge wear
  • Strong surface wear
  • Possible bends, dents, or whitening
DMG

Damaged

A card with major flaws that affect appearance, structure, or collectibility. Damage should be disclosed directly in the listing.

  • Creases, tears, water damage, or ink
  • Major bends or peeling
  • Any flaw that materially affects value

Seller tip

When in doubt, choose the more conservative condition and add close-up photos. Clear expectations reduce disputes and make the marketplace stronger for everyone.
